We offer a wide variety of materials and colours to choose from when creating our custom-built furniture to suit all personal tastes. We care about our manufacturing, which is why, at CUBERIOUS, we pay extra attention to the relation between the forms of the design and the material that will best adapt to its shape. We combine superior leather and fabrics with a large variety of solid quality materials for the structure.
For added convenience we offer material samples to reassure customers of their colour choice, fabric and quality.
Leather:
There are various grades of leather available, depending on the quality and durability demanded by the specific usage.
Classic leather:
Our classic leather is a semi-aniline leather which means it has a thin coating applied to its surface that allows the natural beauty of the leather to show through while protecting the surface. The coating also adds more durability to the leather and ensures consistent colour. Semi-aniline leather is manufactured from good quality hides with fewer natural markings and may include minor alterations to disguise any unwanted effects. It is stain resistant as spilled liquid is not absorbed straight away.
Premium leather:
Cuberious premium leather is 100% made of aniline leather. It is manufactured from the highest quality hides that undergo very little treatment to sustain the natural look of the leather. It is impregnated with transparent, environmentally friendly dyes, and unlike the semi-aniline leather no pigment is used to coat the surface. This delivers the delicate, natural look of the leather, which makes it the most luxurious and expensive leather.
Middle-Thick leather:
Middle-Thick leather is used for designs, which require a strong and reliable material that can sustain heavy weight. It has a thick layer of pigmented coating, which ensures great durability and resistance to stains or sunlight. The surface is sturdy with a grainy relief, and less shade variation. Middle-Thick leather requires little care and is easy to clean and maintain.
Waxed Leather:
Cuberious Waxed, oiled or greased leather is robust smooth leather or Nubuck leather, to which a greasy - oily - waxy finish is applied. Often these waxes, oils or fats are also dyed and therefore such leathers have a slight risk of dye transfer. Such leather is labelled as waxed leather, oiled leather, pull-up leather, saddle leather or as vintage leather. Due to this soft and scratch-sensitive finish, the leather quickly gets a vintage-patina, which is a desired effect.

The patina arises by folding, scratching and stretching. Liquid stains darken the leather.
Depending on the type of production, the patina is already quite pronounced when new (as with washed jeans), or the patina is created relatively quickly by use.
When leather has been given a binder-based colour layer on top, it takes significantly longer for the first traces of use to become visible.
Oiled, greased or waxed leather is mostly offered as furniture, bag, belt or as shoe leather.
Nubuck Leather:
Cuberious Nubuck leather is used for designs, which require a strong and reliable material that can sustain heavy weight. It has a thick layer of pigmented coating, which ensures great durability and resistance to stains or sunlight. The surface is sturdy with a grainy relief, and less shade variation. Nubuck leather requires little care and is easy to clean and maintain.
Pony Skin:
Pony Hair leather, also known as Pony Fur, Haircalf, Calf-Hair or Hair-on-leather, is usually created from cow or goat hide. It is made from the hair side of the hide, whereas most leather is made from the non-hair side. The pelt is shaved so that it resembles the hide of a horse. It is then bleached white so that it can be dyed in different colors and patterns. Pony Hair Leather can be made to resemble the hide of an animal such as a zebra or leopard or the dying process can be used to create an entirely abstract and original patterning. Pony Hair is a particularly visually striking form of the material and consequently it is a favorite with designers who are looking for vibrant color and texture. It is used in designer furniture and clothing, such as coats, but its main use is in high end fashion accessories such as shoes, bags and watch straps.
Fabric:
CUBERIOUS’s fabric furniture coverings are comprised of 85% wool and 15% polyester. Polyester fibers are perfectly suited to mixing with natural fibers, providing a durable and easy-care finish that is resistant to the wear of everyday usage.

Velvet Fabric:
The combined velvet is a fabric consisting of a dense and shaved hair on the front, which is formed by the interweaving of a warp yarn through a top background canvas and a lower background canvas, which, as a result of its topping, creates at the same time two separate pieces of velvet, generating the effect of the hair. The sensation to the touch is that of an extremely soft and shiny surface.
Mixed Wool:
Mixed wool consists of both synthetic fibers, such as Polyacrylic, as well as natural fibers, e.g. virgin wool- or cotton. The resulting wool types combine the good properties of natural and artificial fibers, keep out more, are usually lighter than pure natural yarns and have a comfortable feel.
Danish Wool:
Cuberious 100% Danish wool is imported exclusively from the Scandinavian country of Denmark to our producers in Asia to wrap the mostly Danish design classics in their familiar garb from their home country. It is 100% wool and this is very soft in the haptic, a bit unruly, but very pleasantly warm. This effort can have an effect on the delivery times if a shipment does not arrive punctually at our production sites.
Wool Blend:
Wool Blends refer to wool fibers that have been blended will both natural or man-made fibers in order to produce a material that possesses qualities of each fiber. Silk wool as the name implies refers to a material that has a medium weight and satiny luster making it soft on the skin, but still warm. Mood offers a variety of blends so that you may choose the material best suited for your end result.
Our Hemp´s (Standard, Imported or Camira Hemp):
Hemp is the new “natural” miracle fiber, though it has been cultivated since antiquity! Cuberious is proud to offer hemp fabrics in many diverse colors.
One acre of hemp will produce as much fiber as two to three acres of cotton. Hemp is frost tolerant and grows in a much greater climate range than cotton. It requires less water than cotton to thrive, and no pesticides or herbicides; only moderate amounts of fertilizer is needed. Hemp is grown internationally by subsistence farmers in many countries. Harvested by hand, it can be processed for the fiber in the traditional way by soaking in water filled pits, but more often is sold to commercial processors who harvest the fiber using a steam and mechanical process that is much more environmentally-friendly than the chemical process used to harvest bamboo fibers.
Hemp fabric is naturally soil resistant and when dyed with vegetable dyes, is colorfast when exposed to water.
Fiberglass:
Fiberglass, otherwise known as glass-reinforced plastic, is a plastic material strengthened by fine fibers of glass. One of the main advantages of fiberglass is its great durability. Even in a tough environment fiberglass is resistant to stains and can withstand difficult weather conditions. It provides a vivid colour and is less prone to scratches.
Plastic:
As an alternative to fiberglass, CUBERIOUS can supply plastic versions of many of its chairs. Plastic is a lighter material than fiberglass and is suitable for various environments and is very easy to maintain and clean.
Timber:
For the manufacturing of our products we use high quality timber materials that are carefully selected and used for the production of our products.
Plywood:
Plywood is a manufactured timber material, consisting of at least three thin layers (veneers) of wood glued together. The layered structure makes plywood strong, flexible and resistant to cracking and warping. Laminated wood is generally used for structures that are subject to a great deal of tension, in order to provide extra support. The furniture industry has revolutionized this material and thanks to plywood’s flexibility, entirely new shapes can be created. The individual layers of wood are glued together and placed under a high-pressure mold to form the desired shape. The wood is then sanded and finished as required. This process enables, for example, chairs to be designed from a single piece of plywood.
Beech:
Beech is a common and affordable wood material. It has a fine, tight grain and takes resistance well. Its pale colour will add natural warmth to the interior. It is easily maintained as scratches and marks can be polished out, which adds extra durability to the product.
Ash:
Ash is another commonly used material in the furniture market. It has a long-fibered surface, porous grain and is light in colour. It is a versatile wood that has a natural strength and durability and its flexibility allows its use in many stylish designs. Ash takes stain well and is easy to maintain.
Oak:
Oak wood is hard and heavy. It is the most commonly used material for finer, more durable furniture. Its prominent rings and large pores give all oak furniture an interesting texture. Today oak wood is not as widely available as it used to be in the past, which has resulted in its higher price on the market.
Birch:
Birch is a stiff, close-grained hardwood that is very light in colour and takes any stain well. Birch wood is traditionally very strong and reliable hardwood, with beautiful appearance. CUBERIOUS’s birch products are usually handcrafted to ensure we get the most out of its elegant outlook.
Alder:
Alder is part of the birch family and is a softer hardwood. Its great characteristics of stability, consistent colour and elasticity have made it a popular choice for furniture. Alder offers the look of many fine hardwoods at a value price.
Walnut:
Walnut is a high-end wood material praised for its strength, hardness and durability. It provides a strong reliable structure without the excessive weight. Its excellent woodwork qualities came into a popular demand in the furniture production of 17th and 18th century Europe. Your walnut piece can last a lifetime. Walnut wood is warm and rich in color and finishes well. Walnut is a fine-grained hardwood that is dense and shock resistant. It polishes to a very smooth finish, making it ideal for furniture making and carving. Walnut burl is often made into veneer and is highly prized by cabinet makers and car manufacturers
Maple:
Maple is a remarkable material because of its extreme toughness and resistant surface. It has an even close grain texture with uniform colour and absorption that makes it a first-class finish to any furniture. Maple is known as a single-growth wood, and trees have a very slow rate of growing, which makes it a rare and more costly material.
Cherry:
Cherry wood comes from the cherry fruit tree. It is a hardwood, and it is famed for its durability and beautiful color. Cherry wood comes in a variety of colors, including yellow, white, red and dark brown. ... Cherry wood is highly prized by woodworkers because of its rich color, smooth grain and flexibility.
Rosewood:
Rosewood is harvested from a handful of trees in the Dalbergia genus, all of which emit a sweet, rose-like scent when cut or sanded. The wood of these trees is prized throughout the world for its remarkable coloration and density.
Marble:
Marble is a high-quality type of stone that has gained immense popularity due to its structure and fine grain. The unique texture of marble makes it one of the most luxurious natural materials. Its surface has unique whirling patterns and variations of shading.
Glass:
The glass we use for our products is of a highest standard in terms of strength and durability. We use tempered glass, which is four to five times stronger than standard glass and does not break into sharp shards when it falls.
We offer toughened glass in different thicknesses (from 9mm to 21mm) to suit our customer’s taste.
Stainless Steel:
For our products we use the most common and widely used type 304 Stainless Steel. It is tough and resistant to corrosion and oxidation.
Decorative chrome plating:
In the case of bright chrome plating (decorative chrome plating), a very thin chromium layer of mostly 0.2 to 0.5 μm is deposited. Because of the small thickness of such chromium layers, the gloss of the finished chromium-plated workpiece is determined not only by the chromium layer itself, but also by the underlying layer (usually nickel).
If a layer of nickel under the chrome is dull, then the workpiece is still dull after the (thin) bright chrome plating. Such a matt surface is desired in some cases and is then perceived as very high quality (semi-gloss).
A bright chrome layer must be driven in a specific window of temperature and current density. Outside of this window, the chrome layer is not shiny, but dull and gray. This can occur especially in the high current density range. If the gray area at the edges of the workpiece is relatively small, it can be restored to a high gloss by means of special polishing paste and a cloth polishing wheel.
